About This Bread
Whole wheat fig and date bread is sweet without any extra sugar. It tastes great at breakfast, and makes a great addition to a cheese board. This whole wheat fig and date bread is another recipe from Paul Hollywood’s 100 Great Breads, and it’s a favorite. Another favorite. The dates and figs add plenty of sweetness, the whole wheat gives it a chewiness. It’s a bit reminiscent of squaw bread–or whatever they are calling it now that the name has become politically incorrect. And it’s another easy bread for beginners.
Whole wheat fig and date bread has 8 ingredients if you don’t count the water and you don’t need to knead it if you have a stand up mixer.
- Put all ingredients except water, figs and dates in the bowl of a mixer.
- Blend the butter in with your hands to give it some love. Or skip it.
- Add the water and mix for about 5-10 minutes
- Let rise an hour.
- Add the fruit. Form into two round loaves, and let rise another hour.
- Slash cuts around the perimeter of the loaves. Bake.
Super easy, right!
